I’ve been a customer of Imperfect Foods for about a year now. To be candid, my satisfaction hasn’t always been at 100%. There have been numerous occasions where my orders were incorrect, missing items, or contained spoiled produce and less-than-fresh seafood. Nonetheless, I appreciate their diverse selection of items, many of which are not readily available in typical grocery stores. Despite the occasional hiccups, I continue to patronize them because they consistently rectify any issues I encounter. My husband and I enjoy experimenting with new foods, and Imperfect Foods provides an excellent opportunity to do so. We’re quite flexible with our dietary choices, often fluctuating between preferences. Some months, we opt to avoid beef or chicken altogether, while on other occasions, we embrace full vegetarianism. At this point, we haven’t fully committed to any particular dietary regimen, preferring to keep our options open and explore various culinary experiences. Today, I’ll share with you the contents of one of my recent boxes.

Firstly, I received some zucchini, which I ordered for making zoodles and zucchini bread. They were organic, decently sized, fresh, and priced at $2.00 for both, which I found reasonable. Next in line were the Simple Mills Almond Flour Crackers. Although I paid $4.99, the listing indicated a 4.8oz 6-pack, yet I received a 4.25oz box that wasn’t single-serve. Despite this discrepancy, I didn’t raise the issue as it wasn’t a significant concern to me. These crackers, though, are delicious, gluten-free, and made with simple ingredients, which I appreciate. I had ordered red onions but received white ones instead. However, Imperfect Foods reimbursed me for the mistake, which I appreciated. The onions themselves were of good quality and priced at $1.50 for two. For baking, I purchased ground cinnamon and cloves, both of which I found to be good value for $2.99 and $1.99, respectively.

The Partake Soft Bake Chocolate Chip Cookies, intended for my husband, were a disappointment to him. Though gluten-free and vegan, they didn’t meet our expectations in terms of taste and texture. Nonetheless, at $3.49, it wasn’t a significant loss.

While the avocados and garlic were in good condition, unfortunately, the avocados went bad before I could consume them. However, at $2.25 for three avocados and $0.85 for garlic, the prices were reasonable. The pomegranate, though on the smaller side, arrived intact and priced at $1.99. Additionally, I ordered half a pound of ginger, which was fresh and organic, priced at $1.75.

I decided to try the No Evil Plant-Based Chorizo, which was pricier at $6.49 compared to my usual choice from Trader Joe’s. This option appealed to me as it’s soy-free and made with wheat gluten, suitable for those avoiding soy.

Being a fan of Oatly’s Full Fat Oat Milk, I decided to try Minor Figures Oat Milk, primarily attracted by its packaging. Priced at $2.99, it seemed reasonable for organic oat milk, though I admit my loyalty lies with Oatly.

Finally, the highlight of my order was the Impossible Burger. Although I already had a preferred plant-based meat, I couldn’t resist trying Impossible Burger, especially since it’s been difficult to find in stores. Its taste and texture impressed me, making it a staple in my household. I am not a vegetarian, but my husband and I often take breaks from red meat from time to time throughout the year.

Overall, despite occasional mishaps, I’m pleased with my Imperfect Foods experience. The total cost of my box was $83.22, with free shipping for orders over $60. I recommend Imperfect Foods for those seeking variety and convenience but advise being prepared for occasional discrepancies.
