When I first started wearing sunscreen, I was plagued with an unappealing white cast every time I applied it to my face.  It made my skin look sickly and washed out. I ended up just not wearing anything because everything looked ashy on my tanned brown skin. It was like they didn’t give skin of color a second thought.

Thankfully, times have changed and there are several products on the market made for us and I am grateful. I just wish it could have been sooner!

Isle Glow Face Moisturizer SPF 45 by Cay Skin ($36)

My number one go to SPF for my brown skin is this one! This brand was founded by a woman of color, so not only is it a woman owned business, but it is also a black owned business! Winnie Harlow is not only beautiful but smart for formulating this SPF. It can be used by people of any color but is especially beneficial for skin of color as it leaves zero white cast. This moisturizer makes skin glow and perfect for summertime but can be used any time of year. I recently discovered this during a black Friday sale and fell in love! I haven’t really used anything else since because I love it so much.

Unseen Sunscreen by Supergoop! ($38)

Before I discovered Cay Skin, I was a big fan of this SPF 40. It has a clear silicone type feel and glides on to skin effortlessly. It leaves no white cast and is invisible. I really like it, and it is a perfect choice if you are looking for a basic sunscreen with no glow factor. Perfect for dry skin since it doesn’t dry out when you put it on. It leaves skin silky smooth.

Laneige UV Defense SPF 50 ($30)

This SPF has a creamy white texture but when it is applied to the skin it becomes clear. This has a thicker consistency and can be a bit on the greasy side. However, the sun tends to dry out our skin especially when tanning. If you suffer from dry skin, this SPF would be perfect for you.

Saint Jane Luxury Sun Ritual Pore Smoothing SPF 30 ($38)

This SPF is lightweight and blends into skin without leaving a white cast. Unlike the rest of this sunscreens that I have listed which are all chemical, this one is a mineral sunscreen. This would be better for someone with oily skin since it does have a matte finish. Since I have dry skin, this isn’t my go-to but I still use it from time to time when I am not too dry. I received this in my Fab Fit Fun box to try it out. I am impressed with the product overall. It has a bit of a sheen which will give you a glow without you looking greasy.

I hope you all try out these sunscreens! Let me know how you like them and give my blog and socials a follow, so you won’t miss out on upcoming content! Thanks for stopping by!
